Martha Lee Conner

September 21, 1947 - March 28, 2022

It is with great sadness the family of Martha Lee Conner announces her passing early Monday morning, March 28, 2022, at the age of 74. Born to Jessie (Stephens) and Russell Bugg on Sept. 21, 1947, in Spring Hill, Kentucky, Martha was a life-long resident of Clinton, KY where she lived with her beloved husband of almost 56 years, Bobby Conner. A graduate of Hickman County High School in 1966, she and lifetime love Bobby were married later that same year on June,10. She worked odd jobs including reception at a local doctor’s office and at Brown Shoe Factory before beginning her true life’s work, that of devoted wife and mother to twin boys Joseph and Stephen. As her boys grew up, she did return to the work force later in life, obtaining her CDL and serving as school bus driver for the Hickman County School System. Known for her boundless warmth and kindness and a strong and unwavering faith she served her community tirelessly never meeting a stranger. A long-time member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Fulton, KY, her deep faith instilled an uncanny ability to see the good in everyone and an unsinkable capacity to remain eternally optimistic even in the hardest of times. That invaluable outlook served her well the last five years as she faced a lengthy and arduous battle with breast cancer. Initially diagnosed in 2006, Martha enjoyed 11 years of remission before being diagnosed with a recurrence in 2017. Despite countless trips to Nashville for innumerable treatments and procedures she never lost that sunny disposition and remained truly thankful for every day of life regardless of its challenges. A lover of travel and time with her family, Martha will be lovingly missed and forever remembered by her husband Bobby; her children, Joseph, Stephen and his wife Tara and granddaughter Rachel. Martha is preceded in death by both her parents as well as brother Larry and sister MaryAnn. The family would like to extend special thanks to the oncology team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville as well as the nurses of Mercy Health Hospice in Paducah, KY. A graveside service honoring the life of Martha Conner will be held tomorrow, March 29 at 3:30 pm at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, KY. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Heimerdinger Foundation, an organization providing nutritious, lovingly prepared meals to those in cancer treatment in Middle Tennessee.
